AT ZHENSKI PAZAR MARKET IN SOFIA: LET’S DEMOLISH A BUILDING SO THAT WE CAN ADD NEW PAVILIONS

A project provides for online orders from the stalls to the home and office.

22 new pavilions and alleys will be built at “Zhenski Pazar Market“ in Sofia, and for that purpose an old administrative building in the area of the Slivnitsa Boulevard will be demolished.

This is being proposed by Dragomir Dimitrov, director of municipal company “Vazrazhdane Markets“, which also includes “Dimitar Petkov“ Market, the Rotunda at the Central Railway Station and the amphitheatre in the garden of the National Palace of Culture.

The building is currently not used due to its poor condition, and a proper refurbishment would take approximately BGN 800 000, which, according to Dimitrov, is not profitable. If 22 pavilions are built there, these will provide revenues and the area will become more spacious, explained the head of the “Vazrazhdane Markets“. He has already requested permission from the Chief Architect of Sofia Zdravko Zdravkov, this became clear as well, during a seminar, related to Sofia’s budget.

“Vazrazhdane Markets“ is working on a programme for the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles on our two markets. A modern CCTV system and new LED lighting are currently being installed, added Dimitrov.

The management is also working on a project for online orders and deliveries from the stalls to the homes and offices, and is now looking for partners to undertake this activity.
