Women’s Market with new WEEKEНД ПАZAR from September 25th

The modern Bulgarian art and street artists – one of the accents of the weekend events

The first WEEKEНД ПАZAR in Sofia will start this Saturday and Sunday, September 25th and 26th, at the emblematic for Sofia residents Women’s Market. Every weekend, from 10:00 to 19:00 o’clock, the locals and the guests of the capital will enjoy finding at one and the same place Bulgarian products, restaurants, drinks, books’ market, flower market, musical program and contemporary Bulgarian art, antiques, clothes and many other surprises in a pleasant atmosphere.

“Pazari Vazrazhdane” EAD is the promoter of the first similar market in Sofia, which will gather in one place an eclectic selection of many merchants and producers in a single trade area at the market’s territory with entrance from “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” Street.

“This is another project of ours, aimed at inviting with long-term positioning key restaurateurs, farmers, brewers, merchants and artists, flower producers, book publishing houses and other reputable businesses, which will attract various audiences and reveal the multi-cultural life in the area of the Women’s Market. The whole autumn, every weekend we will transform the oldest and central Sofia market into a place for meetings, eating, drinking, listening to music, shopping everything one needs and nice walks. I believe that such an event will also attract these residents of Sofia, who generally do not shop with us and that they will rediscover the charms of the Women’s Market.” Dragomir Dimitrov, the Chief Executive of the municipal company “Pazari Vazrazhdane” EAD, explains the idea.

A part of the participants this weekend are the platform КупиИзкуство.БГ, who will open a pop-up place at the weekend market, offering a selection of original paintings of Bulgarian painters, ресторант “Космос” will present the traditional Bulgarian cuisine and products in the innovative form of a street menu, and chef Antoine Verhaest with  L’instant Catering will prepare a thematic menu every weekend with dishes, which can not be found anywhere else in the city. Магазин “Дюкян Меломан” will take care of the sound ssurrounding with high quality selection of music, and second-hand clothing store FREA will promote the sustainable model of clothes shopping, more eco-friendly and less damaging the nature. The market’s partners are also Mastercard®TasteBox by André & DiVino, who will offer Bulgarian wines from selected wine-cellars and encourage the cashless payment within the market limits. The visitors will have the opportunity to see the faces behind Stinky Socks – Bulgarian socks brand for the fens of the extreme sports, and epoque.bg will be present with vintage findings – fine china, ceramics, crystal, silver utensils, etc. Ocha.bg will present the Japanese culture, and most of all the green tea. The brewery Пивоварна Казан Артизан will offer tap craft beer, бар Caldoselection of over 40 boutique whiskeys from known and unknown parts of the world, and publishing house издателство “Рибка” will create a reading space with wide selection of wonderful books. Of course the flower space will not be missing, elevated by Bulgarian producers of cut blossoms, bush plants, herbs and other seasonal products.

The fens of the farmer’s markets will not be disappointed, provided with the chance to try the fish products of “Черноморски улов”, as well as selected various products and articles in the Women’s Market’s framer’s store фермерския магазин на “Женски пазар”.

“Our idea is to promote and update the market, and to attract more and younger audiences, gathering at one place various business from the food, wine and tobacco industry and agricultural producers, as well as Bulgarian brands, being market example with their good practices, high quality services and innovations. Thus we strive to create a larger community of people, who will further develop the market culture in Bulgaria, following the European successful practices. We create an independent market area, encompassing the territory below Art Gallery Serdica and having nothing to do with the market site of the Women’s Market. The entrance will be from “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” Street. And exactly there the visitors will be able to enjoy the different atmosphere, we will offer. With that in mind, in addition to the high quality foods, drinks and products, we are focused on presenting Bulgarian artists and supporting their participation in WEEKEНД ПАZAR. We will also continue to support the Bulgarian contemporary art through the participation in the project of the platform КупиИзкуство.БГ and through Art Gallery Serdica. That’s why we decided to charge a symbolic entry fee of BGN 2, which will be used for helping the cultural events during the WEEKEНД ПАZAR.“, Dragomir Dimitrov adds.

Municipal company “Pazari Vazrazhdane” EAD complies strictly with the introduced measures for prevention of COVID 19, both at the Women’s Market, as well as at the forthcoming WEEKEНД ПАZAR. The space of the WEEKEНД ПАZAR will be one-way traffic zone, mandatory distance, disinfection and carrying masks, both by the participants in the market, as well as the visitors. Any and all required measures will be undertaken to prevent the crowding, the company also states.
